Dr. Merry has extensive training and professional experience in the provision of trauma therapy. Given that trauma can be immensely impactful and isolating, it is important to find a trauma therapy specialist that can not only offer a ‘technique’ to help, but can also understand how trauma is impacting the person on an individual basis with both compassion and accuracy. Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) with specialized trauma therapy training using psychodynamic, CBT, attachment-based, and trauma processing modalities. Dissertation research was on posttraumatic growth and sexism.
Has worked in an Operational Stress Injury Clinic, which specializes in the provision of trauma therapy to veterans and RCMP (first responders) as well as psychodiagnostic assessments involving diagnostics and recommendations for a variety of trauma presentations.
Has trained professionals on topics like vicarious trauma, traumatic stress diagnoses, and sexism and trauma. This also includes training psychology and psychiatry residents on trauma as a supervisor and Clinical Instructor.
Is experienced in offering a variety of therapies that assist with trauma, including EMDR (EMDRIA Levels 1 and 2), schema therapy, mindfulness and CBT, and others.
